Happy Friday! Hope you all had an awesome week. I recently finished a website for my friend Jessica of Bramble Workshop and I launched it feeling really excited about all the new coding tricks I learned throughout the process. The language of code is ever-changing, and there is always something new to learn. If you’re working on a DIY blog design, it’s helpful to know at least a little bit of code to make quick changes to your site. And if you’re looking for coding guides that are easy to follow, the internet’s got your back. Here are some coding tips I’m loving lately:
1. The best way to learn CSS (in my opinion) is by playing around with the Inspect Element tool! This is my absolute favorite tool when it comes to tweaking the style of websites. In this detailed tutorial, Mike of Creatives In Transit teaches you how to use the Inspect Element tool to preview CSS updates in real time (and check your mobile/tablet view too!).
2. I always appreciate when a website has a “back to the top” link at the bottom of the page. Nobody likes scrolling forever. Learn how to code your own “back to the top” button (for WordPress or Blogger) on I Can Build A Blog.
3. The other day, we shared how to customize your Jetpack Opt-In form but we know a lot of you use MailChimp for email updates instead. Visit The Blogging Brew to learn how to easily customize your MailChimp sign-up form!
4. You know those long vertical photos that get a lot of attention on Pinterest but aren’t so fun to scroll through on a blog post? Turns out there’s a handy little Pinterest secret to hide those long photos but still make them pinnable! Visit Natalie Franke for the details.
Have you learned any new coding tips recently? Are there any tutorials you’d like to see here on TBM?

I love the sneaky little Pinterest code! It’s so useful especially for things like DIY posts that need visual instruction! I agree, the inspect element/view source tools have taught me the majority of my coding knowledge over the years! I’m completely self-taught so it’s nice to have a way to fill in the gaps in my knowledge!

Great tips! Luckily I learned a lot in the ‘Myspace’ days haha. But I do like how easy WordPress makes everything with plugins. It’s so nice! A lot of it is really unintuitive at first and hard to learn. I had to have so much patience.

I just discovered your site today and it freakin’ rocks! I am digging the css tips, as I am a novice who’s not afraid of code but who doesn’t know anything about it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
