If you saw our business card post, you can probably tell that we’re on a roll with the small biz resources this week. I’ve taken on a lot more small projects than I’m used to already this year, and that means working with all different people on a regular basis. It can be really exciting, but also a little scary. It means you have to get to know a whole new person or company each time you start a project! So with that in mind, we chose some really helpful resources on finding the right clients and having a successful relationship with them. I think that applies to any field!
1. We loved what Rowan Made said about how you present yourself, word of mouth, and just how helpful creative directories can be. Do you put your business out there in the same ways?
2. Jen Carrington brought up an interesting point about who your audience should be. Her writing exercises would make such good blog posts and really help you hone in on who your dream client is!
3. It’s not fun, but we all have to deal with negative client feedback at some point. Check out Shauna of Nubby Twiglet’s advice for dealing with it in a constructive, healthy way.
4. This is all great, but what if you don’t actually know who your ideal client is? This post on Braid Creative might help you out! It’s worth asking all these important questions so you can get a clear idea of who you’re trying to attract and work with.
We’d love to hear from some freelancers and business owners on their client experiences! Let us know what comes to mind. :)
