Hand lettering is a skill that I truly admire. I particularly love that messy handwriting is in style now because it’s all I really have to offer. :) But really, people who are skilled at hand lettering just amaze me. Whether it’s calligraphy, brush lettering, or font making, all methods of lettering are so freakin’ cool! I am always bookmarking lettering tutorials and e-courses because apparently this is a skill that you don’t have to be born with. So many people throughout the blogosphere have taken calligraphy classes, refined their skills, and then turned right around to teach calligraphy to others.
1. Whenever Elsie of A Beautiful Mess shares any hand lettering tips, I always tune in. She’s the one who first introduced me to the amazing Wacom tablet! I love how Elsie experiments with different types of pens and writing styles. Watch this short video for a few of her top hand lettering tips!
2. Don’t you just love when talented people share their favorite tools of the trade? Lauren of A Fabulous Fete generously shared a full list of her favorite lettering pens! Copic Markers are definitely next on my list of supplies to buy.
3. So happy I stumbled upon this simple guide to brush markers by Melissa Esplin. I am all about Tombow Dual Brush Pens (they have every color ever at Blick!) Also, I have been meaning to purchase the Pentel Aquash Water Brush for a really long time. Have any of you tried it out?
4. Want to turn your script into a font? Take a look at Harri’s excellent handwritten font tutorial over on Vanilla Craft Blog! I love her tips on how to look for inspiration and practice finding your own lettering style.
