You might’ve seen we’ve been posting some weekend thoughts every now and then based on a quote that inspired us that week. When I saw this one floating around, I thought it was really powerful! We should unplug not just for our health and to be able get out and have other fulfilling experiences, but because it will actually help us work better!
We always recommend taking a step back from work, especially when you’ve had an off week and hit a wall with those long, complex projects. This week it felt like it happened to me with just about every project–and finally on Friday I realized I was getting nowhere! So I’m taking a little time this weekend to unplug for the holiday, and I know I will come back with a fresh perspective. One reason is because when you unplug, you gain renewed insight… Even if (or especially if) you didn’t think of it at all while away. I’ve started doing this with everything from my writing process to photo editing (if you’re testing out some new edits it’s always good to do a few, close them, and then open it up again to see if you still like the look). Usually when I come back I find things I could never have seen by looking at it for so long.
So we’re both going to sign off a bit this weekend, and unplug for so many reasons! Wishing you a happy 4th of July!

“Have you tried turning it off and on?” ;P I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July! I’m squeezing in my last bits of technology before I unplug for the holiday :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
