A standard computer keyboard can only get you so far with its boring letters and numbers and select symbols. Just kidding, it’s probably all you really need. But sometimes it’s fun to add extra symbols here and there. I love customizing the arrows at the bottom of my posts or experimenting with different bullet point options. HTML Entities are characters that are reserved by HTML and may not necessarily be found on your keyboard. You might have learned about the symbols back in the late 90’s. If you were like me, you may have typed “♥” after every sentence. Anyway, today I want to share the HTML entities I find most useful for blogging and web design!
HTML entities begin with an ampersand and end with a semi-colon. Between those marks, you can use several different words or combinations of numbers to create special entities like copyright symbols, hearts, arrows, or bullet points. To use these symbols, simply insert the codes (example: ♥ for a heart symbol) into your designated HTML spot. No extra tags are required.

There are several other HTML entities to choose from (sooo many arrows!) that I haven’t listed here. Character Code is my favorite resource for finding good ones.

Thank you for this! I know this will be helpful for me. It also makes me miss the days of myspace when you actually had to know this stuff if you wanted to be “cool.”
