Social media has become more than just a way to connect with friends and family or share your hobbies. Now, there are lots of different types of social accounts (personal, business, etc) and many more things to consider whenever you share posts with your followers. Do your photos/graphics look okay? Are your captions descriptive enough? How are people going to find your social accounts in the first place? Luckily, it isn’t too difficult to find advice on all things social media. However, if you’re using it to grow your business or make your blog more discoverable, check out the helpful tips below:
1. About a year ago, I took a break from blogging on my personal site and I also stopped curating my social media feeds (Instagram, Twitter, etc). It was actually a really lovely time! 2. If you’re trying to post on Instagram daily, you might struggle when deciding what kind of photos to post. I love these 15 photo ideas for Instagram over on Helene in Between. Try out some of her different ideas to challenge yourself creatively and figure out your style!
3. Pinterest is one of our top sources of traffic here on TBM. We always optimize our photos for Pinterest so that they’ll catch people’s attention and hopefully lead them back to our site. 4. As effective as social media can be in growing your biz, I do think it’s important to use it intentionally, not obsessively. Sophie of The Private Life of a Girl wrote an inspiring post on how to use social media effectively and consciously. I agree with everything in this post and especially love how she talks about creating content before consuming the content of others. Such good advice.
Do you have anything fun planned for Halloween weekend? I’m not really into the holiday so I might just opt for a quiet night in with pumpkin-flavored things and the company of a few friends. :)
Have a great weekend!
