Good morning! Do you mind if I geek out for a second? I am constantly amazed by how much a website can be transformed after following a simple tutorial or adding some codes. It’s so cool. I know that as long as I’m interested in the field of web development, I’ll never stop learning new things. Of course, getting technical isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and that’s totally understandable. If you don’t have an interest in dealing with the more complicated side of blogging or running a website, hiring a web developer is an excellent choice.
Personally, I like to have complete control over my website design. The ability to make adjustments whenever I want is really important to me (that’s why I began coding!). If you feel that way too, check out these technical tips and tutorials!
1. Recently, I learned that WordPress holds onto all of your post revisions. Each time you go back to edit a post, a new draft is stored in your database. This can take up a lot of space on your server and end up slowing down your site. Elaine of XoMisse shared a super helpful (and quick) tutorial on how to limit and disable post revisions on WordPress. Go check it out!
2. In order to customize your site with CSS, you need to know where to add it. This might sound obvious but depending on what platform you use, it can be tricky to figure out where to go to edit your CSS stylesheet. Visit Design Your Own (lovely) Blog to learn how to edit CSS in your blog in WordPress, Blogger, and Squarespace.
3. I love this tutorial on how to organize your web design with DIV tags by Melissa of White Corner Creative! She explains what DIV tags are and shows you how you can use them to divide your content into columns (like we do on our about page!).
4. Adding a custom favicon to your site is a small but very effective way to make your website look extra official and well-branded. Here is a quick tutorial by Brittany of Be Your Own Sunshine on how to create a custom favicon for your blog.
All of these posts inspire me to write up some more technical tutorials on TBM!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Great tips! I also love having control over my website. Even though I don’t have the coding thing completely down, I like continuing to learn!
