After spending a little over a year with a part-time retail job, I recently jumped back onto the full-time freelancing bandwagon. I’ve done this before, but I definitely forgot what it was like to have complete control over my schedule. Some days, I’m full of energy and ready to cross everything off of my to-do list. And other days, no matter how much coffee I drink, I’m still exhausted. Angela and I talk about this all the time. When you work from home (especially as a freelancer), every day is different.
Here are some posts I bookmarked this week that have been really encouraging to me. Whether you’ve been working for yourself for ages or you’re hoping to become your own boss soon, I hope these inspire you to keep pursuing your #girlboss dreams. :)
1. Jess of June Letters has written some of my favorite blog posts about freelancing, creativity, and life in general. I love this post she shared of 5 steps to getting started as a freelancer. Sometimes we see our end goals but not all the little steps we need to take in order to get there. Check out this post for some great advice on how you can dive into the freelance world.
2. For the past several years, I’ve always said the same thing about my dream job. “I’m not sure what it looks like, but I know I want to be doing something creative with a small team.” That is still my goal for the future, but right now I’m working primarily from my living room by myself. I miss people!! Jordanna from The House of Muses wrote an amazing post on battling solo working loneliness. If you’re a people-person who also works from home, I’m sure you’ll find her words very refreshing.
3. The other day, I stayed up until 3am finishing a really huge project. For the next few days after that, I found myself needing to take daily naps. I never nap, so I was really annoyed and disappointed in my lack of energy. Even as someone who is super passionate about the idea of self-care, I sometimes forget to give myself a break. Alisha of The Alisha Nicole wrote a post on how to make more time for rest as an entrepreneur, and it completely resonated with me. I’ll be taking so many of her points into this coming week.
4. There are so many things to keep in mind when you work from home, from prioritizing and not letting yourself get distracted to planning short breaks to get yourself out of the house. I’m obsessed with this entire list of 10 not so obvious work from home tips from Career Contessa!
Hope you all have a nice, relaxing weekend!
