I’ve been using Adobe Photoshop since early high school and I always thought it was all I really needed for my creative projects. I used it to edit photos, create graphics, make templates… everything. A couple years ago I finally started experimenting with Illustrator and was immediately smitten. Aside from when I’m coding websites, Illustrator is now my go-to for pretty much everything I make. It’s easy to create beautiful graphics, transform handwritten doodles and lettering into customizable vectors, create PDFs, all the works. I’m far from an expert in Illustrator and have been learning as I go thanks to the many resources I have access to. See below for some of my favorite blog posts on Illustrator. Some are all about the basics and others are specific tutorials for those of you who want to dive right in.
1. Oh, how I love the clipping mask. Clipping masks come in handy when you want to fill text or a shape with an image or pattern. They’re also used to create moodboards and blog post graphics! Visit The White Corner Creative to learn how to make a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator.
2. Creating beautiful PDFs in Illustrator can be really fun. If you ever want to design a worksheet or need to create a contract for a client, check out Lin’s tutorial on creating PDF worksheets in Adobe Illustrator on Mindful Pixels.
3. Want a fun and creative challenge? Here’s a great video tutorial from Teela of Every-Tuesday on how to create a seamless pattern brush in Illustrator.
4. Spruce Rd. is my go-to resource for quick Illustrator tips. Read Jamie’s post on creating the optimal Adobe Illustrator workspace to learn how to make your workflow more efficient!
Have a good weekend and let us know if you have any good Illustrator resources! :)
