Happy Friday! Now that we’re nearing the end of the year, we’re calculating our expenses and income from The Blog Market. As Angela mentioned in our TBM birthday post, we didn’t try to make money for the majority of the year. We put as little pressure on this site as possible and it ended up growing more than our personal blogs combined (in a pretty short amount of time). Crazy how sometimes projects take off when you’re not really trying!
In the new year, we’re planning to start monetizing TBM with a little shop, which has been a slow building idea since the beginning. We’ve also been having a surprising amount of luck with affiliate marketing.
If you’re looking to grow your blog and earn some side income (or make it your full-time job), here are our top resources from bloggers who have made it happen.
1. I love how there isn’t an exact formula to earning income through blogging. Different methods work for different people. Here is a detailed list of several ways to make money blogging from The Love Assembly!
2. My personal blog used to be primarily DIY focused and I never knew how to monetize it. This post by Sugar & Cloth on making money from a DIY blog is so helpful.
3. One really great way to connect with brands and monetize your blog is to work with blog networks. Visit Advice From a Twenty Something to learn all about the process of working with blog networks.
4. Want to earn more than just a side income from blogging? Read this fantastic post on becoming a full time blogger by Fashion Fade Magazine. There is a lot of consider before you make this leap, but following the steps in this post will make it a much easier process.
Have you had success monetizing your blog or is it something you hope to do in the future? Share any thoughts or advice in the comments!
Happy weekend!

Monetizing is so hard, but if you have the time and passion to put into your blog the money will come later :) Google Adsense is a helpful way to start if you are new, and then working with brands for sponsored posts and banner ads can also be a way to make revenue. Just remember, all in moderation! A few sponsored posts here and there is fine but if every post is paid it can come off as insincere!

Hi, is your readers favorites near the footer a plug in that you use?
Jennifer says
Hi Brittany! Yes the plugin is called Genesis Featured Posts Combo (http://genesisdeveloper.me/genesis-featured-posts-combo/). It only works with Genesis themes and the plugin costs $20. However, there is a free plugin called Genesis Sandbox Featured Content that will do pretty much the same thing.
