Hey and happy Friday! Today’s resources are all about Etsy (though they can be helpful for any online marketplace or online business too). I’ve never sold a digital product on Etsy and I found out that a lot of the good Etsy tips from this year are all about digital. I still think these are important for growing your biz even if you have a physical product (like me) too, especially the last two! If you like these or the posts in our small biz section be sure to let us know so we can make sure to keep gathering the best info around. Onto the posts…
1. There are a lot of good tips in XO Sarah’s post about what she’s learned in 500 sales on Etsy. I think it’s a great guide to beginners selling design work there specifically!
2. This guide on Paper & Oats to creating passive income from Etsy is essentially a how-to for selling digital files, so it’s helpful for designers or artists selling digital downloads. I liked how she started by noting how passive isn’t exactly passive–it does take a lot of work to create what’s being downloaded, not to mention prep for sales. But it can be super helpful to have this income while you’re off working with clients!
3. There’s a lot about email marketing floating around, but Lisa of Market Your Creativity’s post is the best I’ve seen that specifically talks about how sales come directly from your email list. This covers everything from where to promote your list to how to generate sales in our online business from it.
4. The subject of paying yourself has been tackled in the Etsy forums just about since it started and I’d still say the majority of people don’t know exactly how it’s done. How does one give themself a paycheck from their Etsy sales, anyway? It’s tough! Mei at Creative Hive Co covers all the basics and gives a pretty good argument for implementing this method STAT.
Do you have an Etsy shop? Don’t forget to learn how to prepare your shop for fall too.

Thanks for the tips, I have an etsy store that I am trying to be more active on. But it’s really hard to get those first few sales. But I guess I have to consistently work at it, and build an effective strategy.
