For today’s resources, we were inspired to learn more about how other creative business owners operate, and what they learn along the way. Most of the creative business owners we know are women who have multiple income streams and freelance careers contributing to their success. But what does that really look like and what should you know if you’re thinking of diving into this whole creative business thing full time? Here’s what we found out!
1. We just came across this post from The Crown Fox on the four seasons of your business. We’ve had the opportunity to work in many different areas under the ‘creative business’ umbrella since college and can definitely relate to these seasons. We’d add a season for the lull though, too–it happens to all of us.
2. Completely agree with Creative Founders’ 5 reasons to build your business community. When you start a business, you’re so engulfed in this new creative territory that making biz friends isn’t exactly on your mind. But connecting with likeminded individuals can be very fulfilling, not to mention good for business!
3. For those of you just starting out, Ashlyn Writes tackles mastering the pitch for your creative business. This might help with making those connections mentioned in #2!
4. Lastly, we loved this post from Think Creative Collective on getting paid to be creative–it’s so accurate. Having a creative talent is just one part of the equation, you also have to learn a lot about business if you want to market that skill!
