TGIF! Remember how Jenn was JUST talking about bouncing back after an off week? I feel like I’ve been going through that for two weeks now. I can’t seem to get my schedule right and feel like I’m always a step behind! One reason is because I’ve been working on our latest project. Last week it involved lots of hosting research. We use Bluehost here on TBM, which is super affordable and has great support, but I figured it was time to see what everyone else was saying about hosting too!
1. First things first, if you’re starting up a self-hosted blog (such as going from WordPress.com to WordPress.org), you should know a little about hosting. This post from Luxxe and Co. provides a great introduction in six easy steps.
2. So you’ve decided to go the self-hosted route, but don’t know which hosting service to go with. Kotryna Bass reviewed a few different companies and shared her pros and cons.
3. It turns out, hosting isn’t just about what company to go with. There are a few buzz words you’ll want to know before signing up for one of those 2- or 3- year plans. Syd + Coco breaks down one of the mysteries of hosting: shared vs. managed WordPress hosting. This post is a must for WP users because it opens the door to a specific type of hosting plan, and contains lots of reviews too.
4. Lastly, if you really want to dive into the world of hosting, check out this post on none other than Winning WP. It has a pretty comprehensive review of several different companies with descriptions of what they do. It’s also a good guide to the most affordable but still reliable options.
Hosting has always been kind of intimidating to me, so I’m really glad to have found such helpful posts! Is this an area you’re familiar with or news to you?
