Okay, I wasn’t really sure how to title this week’s resources, but the common thread we found was how to not only work more efficiently but smarter and healthier. We’re always on the lookout for ways to keep our wellness in check while solving big problems and focusing on big projects. It’s not that I’m not productive during my day, it’s that at the end of it I often feel burnt out or disappointed that I didn’t do everything on my already-unreasonable to-do. These posts really put things in perspective!
1. We’re both fascinated by the idea of the 6 hour work day. And not just because it sounds sweet! Just because something is traditional doesn’t mean it’s right for anyone, and I firmly believe we humans were not made to sit behind a computer for 8+ hours a day. Read why a short workday is better for creatives on House of Muses.
2. #DreamCreateDo laid out all the reasons why continually checking social media and trying to multitask is a big no no in this post on information overwhelm. I have to be plugged in to several social accounts each day so I’ve always been apprehensive about the “don’t check Facebook while working” advice. However, it’s so distracting while I write or blog, so I love this idea that I can just set a social media timer and make sure to sign off when I’m finished with my tasks.
3. We found a great resource by Emily Pearl on the FP blog on living for the weekend. When I worked a 9-5 I was the same way. If you have a full work schedule and still want to hustle on your side projects or blog, this post is for you!
4. This post by Odds + Ends describes probably my biggest struggle with being a freelancer and editor full time. It’s all about going from insanely passionate and accomplished to burnt out or unmotivated on a regular, cyclical business. I’m so glad there are tips for making the most of those hype moments, and getting through the static ones.
Happy weekend! Planning to get any work done yourself?

Love the living for the weekend post! My 52 week blogging challenge has been to write Happy Lists every week, and I’ve come to realize that the majority of things that go on my list all come from my weekend :o -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I love the idea of a 6 hour work day! I always feel like I’m constantly working which leads to number 3, living for the weekend. There is definitely something to be said about working smarter!

I really love the idea of the 6 hours work day. I notice that I am not productive anymore in the last several hours of my work day. Too bad I don’t make my own schedule!
