You know how every blogger has this fear that there’s no original content left and maybe every good topic has already been written about? Perusing the internet for resources is a great way to quell that fear. We always begin our resource search thinking we’re going to find everything we’re looking for in five minutes, but in reality it’s way too much time spent weeding through content that’s not quite what we had in mind. This always puts things in perspective for me. Yes, there is an endless sea of content, but no it hasn’t all been done. Everyone has their own take on something like how to best work from home and as a result there’s so much opportunity to share your story. I guess what I’m saying is that if you work from home I’d love to see what you have to say. I work from home fulltime and it can be a real struggle. Judging from the repeated advice in all the posts we came across, I’d say that most everyone finds it a struggle at times too! It made me realize that here on TBM, I definitely need to write a post on it myself. Luckily we did find four incredible resources on the subject, so if you work from home or are thinking of taking the dive, you’ll definitely want this pinned!
1. Chelsea of Lovely Indeed has a few years under her belt so I’m taking her advice to heart! Her third tip has been the hardest for me, and I hope to change that for the rest of this year.
2. Awhile back, Stephanie, the talent behind the super successful blog and biz SS Print Shop, wrote a self-employed survival guide that is sure to kickstart your organization and plan of action–even if you’re a year or two in.
3. I love that My SoCal’d life interviewed a few different freelancers for tips on this very subject. One of them admitted that it’s fine to work in comfy clothes! which was the first time I’d heard another self-employed biz lady say that. Almost everyone says you must get dressed to hold yourself accountable. Part of me agrees, but I personally prefer to get an hour or two in of email and planning in my PJs if I’m not heading straight to a cafe or meeting in the AM. I tend to spend too long doing unnecessary things like curling my hair or making a mess of my closet if I don’t. #procrastination
4. If you are like me and find that working from home can be quite isolating at times, you’ll be relieved to see all the comments on this From Roses post. Not only is it reassuring, but each of Rebecca’s suggestions is a must for me!

Working at home has always felt very natural for me. Of course there are some distractions at home, but I think it’s all about creating a routine that suits for you.

awesome resources! thank you!
i think a lot of the time people (myself included) forget that working from home and how we like to do it is entirely subjective. we’re in the position to call our own shots, so surely we should try out different styles of working and see what fits us best? the wealth of advice is fantastic but sometimes it’s best to step back and remember that it’s *just* advice! we can tailor and tweak until it fits us perfectly. no two work from home routines will look the same and that’s the best part ;)
