Now that we’re entering the summer season, it’s so easy to fall into vacation mode even if we’re not actually on vacation. Working from home makes it hard to stay focused when all we want to do is go outside and enjoy the sunny weather. These days I work in an office during the morning and plan to work on freelance products afterward. But honestly, it’s been a struggle getting motivated because I don’t want to sit at my computer when it’s so beautiful outside. So I’ve come up with a few ways to get motivated when my mind is wandering toward all the possibilities of summer.
1. Take your work outside
This is a very obvious tip. Angela and I love taking our work to different coffee shops. It’s extra fun when we meet up with friends who work remotely too. A while ago, we shared this guide on how to find the perfect workspace outside of your home. Working from home doesn’t have to mean literally working from your home. Changing up your scenery makes such a difference. :)
2. Break up your day with short outings
I tend to get lost in my work for several hours at a time and completely forget to take breaks. Only later do I realize that sitting at a computer for hours has made me exhausted and grumpy. Even if all you do is step outside to check the mail or make a quick snack, breaking up your work day will definitely improve your mood and help the day go by quicker.
3. Brighten up your workspace with summer colors
Wherever you decide to take your remote work, having bright and colorful office accessories is always a mood lifter. We love collecting (and sharing) cute office supplies! It’s funny how something as simple as a pretty notebook can make work so much more exciting. See our current favorite summery desk accessories below!
