I think we’ve already proven just how much we love Valentine’s Day, with our favorite cards and desktop freebies, but I had this idea for a quick little DIY and had to share. It all started when I was crafting the other night. I hate wasting a bunch of paper just to cut out a few little things, so I created some confetti with the paper pieces I had, then mixed it in with other fun stuff like sequins. I think it would be so fun to hand these out at a photo booth at a party. The mess would be totally worth it for fun pictures!
All you need are scissors, scrap paper or cardstock in different colors, paper punches if you have them (I manually cut out a few different sized hearts too), and extra embellishments like sequins. I went with pinks, purples, and greens and the heart theme of course. The more different sizes and shapes the better, as well as different weights of paper. You could even throw in a little tissue paper or kraft paper, just as long as it’s not anything that will stick together too much or weigh everything down.
For this look in particular you’ll want to cut out geometric shapes too. Just snip strips of paper into triangles, squares etc. No need to be perfect, it IS confetti after all. I had built up a little collection of those plastic envelope sleeves that cards often come in not wanting to throw them out. Fiiiinally I have a use for them, instead of just hoarding craft supplies that will never get used! Glassine bags or cute paper sleeves to keep the contents surprising would look just as cute.
Not throwing a party? We still love keeping cute embellishments like this around for photo styling purposes. Why not keep a batch handy for any Valentine’s themed or party posts you plan to blog?
Valentine’s Day is so fun. Bloggers love it but I wish more people celebrated with fun things like this IRL, instead of just your average rose and chocolate gifts (as nice as those are). Do you plan to join the festivities?
