Over the past few years, blogging has turned into a huge money maker. There are so many opportunities that can come from blogging and it’s really cool because pretty much anyone can do it. If you’re passionate about a topic and share it with like-minded people, your blog will have the potential to experience growth and perhaps you’ll eventually jump on the money train. On the other side of things, thinking of blogging as a source of income is also a little bittersweet. A lot of us miss the way blogging used to be (you know, when everyone used a free platform and shared random thoughts and crafty photos). Nowadays most blog posts have a lot of intention behind them (think sponsored posts/advice posts/this post I’m writing right now haha), which is great but different.
If you’re interested in making money blogging, a quick Google or Pinterest search will bring you so many posts telling you how to do it. TOO many, if you ask me. Since different methods work for different people, it might take a while to sift through these posts and figure out what might work best for you. Personally, my favorite blog monetization stories come from people who have worked really hard to achieve it. Here are a few helpful recent posts for anyone looking into earning an income from blogging!
1. I really appreciate the authenticity in this post on Girl vs Globe about how to make money blogging. Sabina shares all of her advice with so much transparency. Very refreshing!
2. Contrary to popular belief, you can actually make an income blogging without sponsored posts, ads, or paying attention to you statistics. Read Sanae Ishida’s interview on Besotted for tips on authentically and organically monetizing your blog. Definitely one of the most inspiring reads of my week!
3. Leslie of Lamberts Lately shares so many useful tips in her 4-part series on the basics of blog monetization. Check out each post to learn about affiliate marketing, ad revenue, selling products, and more.
4. Like I said above, there is a lot of advice out there on how to make money blogging. Sometimes misconceptions can be made and you might think you have to have a certain number of followers or pageviews in order to start thinking about monetizing your blog. Gemma of The Sweetest Digs shares 3 blog monetization myths, along with advice on what you should do instead! A very encouraging read for anyone who’s feeling discouraging about their blog growth.
What is your experience with blog monetization? Is your goal with blogging to make money, or do you just do it for fun? Would love to hear all your thoughts!

This is such a fantastic round-up of resources!
I completely agree with you about there being TOO much information available. It can get really overwhelming and what works for one won’t work for another. That’s why I enjoy finding a few people to pay attention to, and you do a great job of sifting through all the material out there!
My goal is to make money with my blog eventually, and I’d already read Gemma’s post about blog monetisation myths which was really refreshing! Affiliate marketing is definitely something I’m looking into more

I originally started blogging for fun, but after doing it for two and a half years, I think I’m pretty good at content creation and photography and creating nice layouts, so it would be nice to make some extra cash from the skills I’ve gained over the last few years. I’m still going to continue with the topics I’ve already been focused on for authenticity but just with more effort being put into the promotion aspect of blogging. Thanks for sharing these articles!

You are too sweet for including my article in this round-up. Blushing over here!!
I think blog monetization is SUCH a personal journey. There are strategies that work well for some versus others. I really don’t think it’s a one-size fits all model.
I actually launched a blog monetization course recently, focused specifically for DIY/home/design bloggers, and I intentionally go through all the strategies in there (the how-to’s, advantages, disadvantages) so that students could pick and choose what felt right and best for them.
