For me, a big theme of the year has been learning to balance self-care with “the hustle”. Every week when things inevitably get a little stressful, I have to remind myself that taking breaks is actually productive and downtime is the only way to avoid burnout. So in the spirit of taking it easy, this week’s resources are all about maintaining a healthy perspective on your business and on your role as a creative boss lady.
1. While many creative hobbies end up turning into profitable businesses, it’s nice to have some pastimes that are just your own. I love this post on Fresh By Sian all about creating boundaries and keeping a few hobbies off-limits from your business.
2. A big part of taking a leap into creative gig is being able to say “yes” to what you want in life. And even once you have the job or lifestyle you want, tasks can get monotonous and become things you feel like you have to do, not things you want to do. Here is a great post on Braid Creative about avoiding burnout by reframing your language from “need” to “want”.
3. The struggle of competition and comparison is so real and it can be super discouraging especially in the blogging world. Kimberly of Creatives in Transit shared a wonderful post about the truth about competition and how we can combat jealousy with authenticity, community, and even strategy.
4. Remember last month when Instagram announced its new changes and the world nearly ended? It was a crazy time for business and bloggers who depend on Instagram for their success. In response to this whole issue, Kate of Wit & Delight wrote about why it’s time to be breaking up with your followers. So much truth in this post.
Hope you all enjoy these posts as much as I did. :)
Have a good weekend!

I just clicked on the last link and gave it a read and it’s very true! I’ve never really thought about it in that way!

I enjoyed the last post very much. It’s true that we all want to be like and noticed but it’s unhealthy to get too obsessed with it!
