Did you catch our post on working from home during summer this week? Feeling the struggle so much right now, especially with a pool in my apartment right downstairs! Anyway, those of you who have followed us for a couple years now probably know how much we love adding product roundup posts in our inspiration section. We love discovering new workspace tools, planners, and desk accessories so we always bookmark them to share when we do. This is something bloggers have done for years (remember making collages in Polyvore?), but if you’re trying to grow your blog traffic, you might be wondering if it’s an effective type of post.
We find them inspiring to read, so we love to post them. And we’ve noticed that they help bring in blog traffic from those of you who want to keep your workspace inspiring, too! So today we wanted to share a few ways you can make sure these types of posts are effective for both you + your readers–readers who will potentially buy the products you share!
1. Know what your reader wants. Working from home, blogging, and freelance are huge topics for us here at TBM, so when we do roundups, we are always keeping freelancers and bloggers in mind. Take a look at what type of other posts bring your blog views, and create your roundup for that audience. Our blog tips are popular, so we like to share supplies we think bloggers would find inspiring!
2. Learn from past posts. Old posts aren’t just a thing of the past, they can help you figure out what to share in the future. Keep track of how past roundups have performed and tweak accordingly. For example, we used to structure our workspace inspirations differently. We still post similar products (cute new office supplies and art, usually!), but the way we title and format the post is a bit different. It made all the difference in how well they performed.
3. Make sure it stays with the branding of your site. I think that both Jennifer and I have a slightly different personal aesthetic than what we share here on TBM. We both love everything we post here, but we sort of blended our styles to create the TBM brand. So when we post products, we make sure that the colors and style fit with everything else we share here, and not just whatever we’re into at the time… though they are often pretty similar.
4. Try something new. You’ll never know if a post could perform even better if you don’t try something new! If you come up with a fresh idea, don’t be afraid to take a risk and try it out. If it doesn’t work, you can always go back to the drawing board – no harm done.
5. Do a fun preview on social media. When we share our roundups on social media, we share enough info to give readers a good overview of what we’re posting. Too little and we’re getting into clickbait territory. At the same time, we still want them to read the blog post, so we leave a little mystery in our caption. Make it fun and draw people in!
Do you post roundups with product links and resources for your readers? What helps make them successful?

Good, basic tips. Thanks
