Remember the other day when I was talking about those really off weeks that come along every now and then? A lot of the time when I’m having a scattered or unproductive week, I get writer’s block. While some days I can write a blog post in ten minutes, other times I feel like I’m back in college writing a paper and trying not to sound like a robot. The cool thing about blogging is that you’re actually encouraged to sound like yourself. Still, writing to a bunch of people you may or may not know can be stressful. So, this week I’ve been reading up on tips for writing blog posts effectively and naturally. You know, in case writer’s block decides to send me a friendly visit in the near future (which it probably will).
1. Here is an amazing list of tips for writing effective blog posts over on Odds & Ends Creative. I love that Caileigh mentions how both using strategy and remembering to stay human are key to writing your best blog posts.
2. Caitlin Brehm always has so much great insight to share. I love her advice on getting past writer’s block and making your writing sound more like you.
3. So thankful I came across these steps for writing a blog post on The SITS Girls. I 100% agree with their suggestion to write first and edit later. Writing a post without trying to make it sound perfect always helps me get all of my ideas out in a natural way before refining them later.
4. Since blogging is supposed to be all about community, it would make sense that the best blog posts are ones that spark conversation. Last month, Holly of Empfire shared why she is passionate about writing posts that spark conversation and why it’s more important than focusing on statistics.
Well, I hope you guys enjoy the last few days of April! Any weekend plans? I’m off to sunny California for a few days to visit some friends and family.
See you next week!

Thanks so much for sharing! I’m just starting out with my little blog (tips and tricks for the working girl) and I know I’ve got of growing to do but it’s great to get the perspective of someone who’s been doing this for a while and recognizes quality advice and guidance! Thanks for rounding these up!
